About

The goal.

The project’s goal is to find and share effective ways to close the knowing-doing gap.

In our time (mid-2025), we have a lot of information available. With the rise of AI, we are quickly entering or may already be in the so-called informational singularity. However, there is a problem: how to use this knowledge. The knowing-doing gap is the main issue in how artificial intelligence (AI) and human intelligence (HI) work together.

The InstructYourself project is built on instructional design and uses research-to-practice methods to bridge the Knowing-Doing Gap regarding human issues in the 21st century. InstructYourself is a non-profit project, accurately described as an enthusiast laboratory.

Sources.

My primary source of information is practice. The ideas and methods described in the ’subjects‘ section always include experiences of applying those ideas in real situations. Many of my ideas come from books and papers that I think about, apply, and analyze based on my experiences. In this project, you will not find any ideas or methods that I haven’t tested and reflected on through practice. You will not find any content generated by AI here. AI is only used for editing and for translating in International Plain English (ISO 24495-1).

Language & Visuals.

The content of this project is written by me in German, Russian, or basic English. However, the editing and presentation of the content on this webpage is done in International Plain English (ISO 24495-1). This type of English is best for understanding by non-native speakers and for machine translation. I use AI (GPT 4o-mini and Microsoft 365 Copilot) to edit my texts in ISO Plain English. If you notice any grammatical mistakes or poor machine translations, please let me know. The drawings and graphics on this webpage are created by me personally, without the use of AI. Human drawings are becoming a rarity, and I am happy to share them with you.

Structure of the Webpage:

The project webpage has three main parts:

  • Index: Here you will find all the content organized in a tree structure.
  • Subjects: This is like a blog where my notes are organized by date.
  • Bookshelf: Here you will find books and papers that I recommend and that are relevant to the project topic.
